School of Nursing Golden Jubilee: 1974-2024 - Celebrating our Past, Defining our Future

On April 12, 2024, the School of Nursing celebrated our 50th Anniversary! Our video, Celebrating 50 Years of the University of Louisville School of Nursing, will give you a glimpse of our history and current successes. The profession of nursing has changed significantly over the last 50 years, and during the pandemic, was challenged like no other time in my 46-year career.

Grants awarded to support medically underserved communities

The University of Louisville has received $6.5 million through two federal grants to help increase Kentuckians’ access to health care, particularly in underserved rural and urban areas.

UofL School of Nursing brings certified registered nurse anesthetist program to Louisville

The first cohort of the University of Louisville’s Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA) Program begins its 36-month journey on August 21, 2023.

The School of Nursing has been highly active in Community Engagement and Diversity Inclusion during the Fall semester. Community engagement activities have included work in all academic programs, in clinical and neighborhood settings. Examples of this work include:

Faculty Honors

Dr. Ratchneewan Ross was honored by the Transcultural Nursing Society with induction as a Transcultural Nursing Scholar. The purpose of the Transcultural Scholars is to recognize persons who have demonstrated and documented exemplary scholarship by advancing transcultural nursing and health care research, education, practice, and/or administration within regional, national, or global contexts.

In recognition of its community engagement efforts, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) today recognized the University of Louisville for its exemplary community engagement project.
