Dedra M. Hayden, '97, '09, '19 & William "Bill" Hayden, '90, 97!


DEDRA M. HAYDEN '97, '09, '19

Dedra M. Hayden received her Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2019, her Master of Science in Nursing in 2009, and her Bachelor of Nursing in 1997, all from the University of Louisville. She received her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1992 from Jefferson Community College. She is an active University of Louisville School of Nursing Alumni Council member.

WILLIAM "BILL" HAYDEN II '90, '97

William F. Hayden received his Bachelor of Nursing in 1997 and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Management in 1990, both from the University of Louisville


Dr. Hayden is an Associate Professor at the University of Louisville. She serves as Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Track Coordinator and Director of the Kentucky Racing Health Services Center. Dr. Hayden has served as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in primary care for over ten years at the Kentucky Racing Health Services Center. She was the first nurse practitioner appointed at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Dr. Hayden is the recipient of the UofL Community Engagement Faculty Award for her work with The Kentucky Racing Health Services Center. Under her leadership, the center received exemplary recognition from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation for its contributions to workers at Churchill Downs.

William Hayden is a Senior Oncology and Hematology Specialist with Incyte. He has served as a consultant on care delivery and has formed business plans for hospital business units. Hayden also served as the director of a product development group for a start-up medical device company. He was formerly a nurse in a NICU and a pediatric emergency room. Hayden was instrumental in the start-up of Kentucky's first stand-alone emergency department.

Dedra and William have two children, Abigail and Trey. Abigail is a 2021 School of Nursing alumna. They reside in the Louisville area.
