Local artist paints mural in School of Nursing to honor nurses

The contributions nurses make to healthcare can't be underestimated.

There are a number nurses who have made a lasting impact in history, and the School of Nursing wanted to honor a few of them with a mural on the first floor of our building created by local artist Damon Thompson.

Thompson is known for murals across Louisville in mediums from spray paint to acrylic.

New pediatric nurse practitioner program begins in August

The University of Louisville School of Nursing is now offering a pediatric acute care nurse practitioner post-graduate certificate program (PACNP).
This program supports the existing pediatrics program offered at the School of Nursing - the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) to Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) track - creating another option for those interested in pediatric acute care.

Did you hear the good news? The School of Nursing is relaunching its accelerated second-degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

"The need for nurses is crucial right now. I'm so excited about the program relaunching at the School of Nursing. It's vital to help ensure the workforce needs are met across the state of Kentucky," School of Nursing Dean Sonya Hardin said.

School of Nursing graduate Cierra Battle shares experience as a nurse in Tanzania

I am one month into my time here in Tanzania. I am spending my six months at Muhimbili National Hospital-Mloganzila. Mloganzila Hospital is a national hospital located in the city of Dar es Salaam. It's a referral hospital, which means they receive cases from other hospitals, health centers, and dispensaries if those facilities are full or the patient has a complicated case. Mloganzila is a beautiful hospital that offers services ranging from internal medicine, emergency medicine, psychiatry and mental health, diet and nutrition, and more. It's also a teaching and research facility.

University of Louisville School of Nursing and Hazard Community & Technical College Students Partner on Aetna Foundation Healthiest Cities & Counties Challenge in Perry County

The Healthiest Cities & Counties Challenge in Perry County aims to increase access to healthy foods in Perry County and will also serve as an example for other communities across the United States. U of L School of Nursing graduate student, Paige Newquist, and Hazard Community College Visual Communications Graphic Design student, Nikki Enlow, have partnered to launch a public health information campaign.

DNP, FNP student honored as Health Care Hero shares story of inspiration from front lines of COVID-19

This last year has affected millions of lives. And while it's been a trying time for many, it's also a time to recognize and thank some of the heroes.

Congratulations to Briana Neal, current DNP, FNP student and graduate teaching assistant, on being named a Health Care Hero by Louisville Business First.

The publication's annual Health Care Heroes program features medical professional who go above the call of duty. This past year especially shined a light on that during the COVID-19 pandemic.
