We focus on addressing the complex healthcare needs of diverse populations through education, research, and service. Graduates are prepared to excel in nursing science, practice, and leadership across various settings, meeting the evolving healthcare needs of society. The BSN program also lays the groundwork for advanced nursing degrees, including master’s and doctoral programs.

Comprehensive Curriculum
Our curriculum includes a core of knowledge in the humanities, behavioral, physical, and biological sciences, along with professional nursing theory and practice. Graduates are well-prepared for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
Flexible Options for Degree Holders
Students with a previous degree can apply to our Pre-Licensure BSN or Second Degree Accelerated BSN programs.

Owensboro Extension FAQ
At the Owensboro Extension, 35 students will be admitted to upper division in the fall semester and 35 students in the spring semester.
Students may attend full or part-time while enrolled in lower division. Upper division requires full-time enrollment for four consecutive semesters.
It is possible to complete the program in four years if students are enrolled full-time while in lower division.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
A minimum cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.8 is required for admission into lower division. A minimum 3.0 nursing program grade point average is required for consideration into upper division, effective fall 2019.
The applicant pool credentials vary with each admit term. The applicants are ranked on their program grade point average. The number of applications has ranged from 90-160 for Louisville and 40 for the Owensboro Extension. Historically, the program grade point averages have been over 3.3 for admitted students.
Students that are not admitted into upper division are advised to meet with their academic nursing advisor to plan a strategy on improving the quality of their application or other options. This may include repeating courses, looking into other health profession related majors or other nursing programs.
Students may transfer courses from other regionally accredited institutions. All courses are evaluated at the university level through the Office of Transfer & Adult Services for course equivalency.
Yes, in addition to the undergraduate tuition rate, the upper division nursing program includes lab and clinical fees, incidentals such as uniforms, stethoscopes, technology software and hardware, and textbooks.
Nurse Aide Training (NAT) training is a clinical compliance requirement for upper division. Please refer to the Nurse Aide Training (NAT) / Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) page for additional information.
