Unleashing potential in Louisville middle and high schools

Nursing for All is designed to inspire middle and high school students from Bullitt County and Jefferson County schools to explore healthcare careers. Our initiative aims to boost students’ confidence around post-secondary education and promote the idea that "nursing is for all."

Supported by the Area Health Education Centers, our program provides students with valuable resources, including success coaching, study tips, and a growth mindset approach. These tools help students navigate their educational journeys and prepare for future careers in healthcare.

In a field-trip visit to the School of Nursing, students engage in a variety of simulation activities. These include a patient escape room, working with high-fidelity mannequins, counting heart rates, respirations, feeling pulses, and answering common healthcare questions. These hands-on experiences provide students with a realistic glimpse into the world of healthcare.

Central High School and Shawnee High School have leveraged the signature partnership to give students the opportunity to participate in multiple levels of activities based on the number of visits they have had and their grade level. These partnerships have allowed for multiple visits to the School of Nursing, where students can immerse themselves in real-life healthcare experiences.

During their visits, students tour the Health Sciences Center (HSC) campus, explore the library, attend workshops, and participate in hands-on and simulation experiences. These activities are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the healthcare field and inspire students to pursue careers in nursing and other health professions.
