Nursing Students Participate in Service Learning Program to Puerto Rico
August 14, 2025Over fall break, twelve nursing students from the School of Nursing participated in a service learning program to Vieques, Puerto Rico. Drs. Nash and Robertson traveled with the students to the small island that was at the epicenter of Hurricane Maria (2017). Although the island has recovered in many ways, the students were able to collect health data to plan for future interventions while learning about the Puerto Rican culture and health care delivery on this small, under resourced island.
