About the Specialty

An Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) is a specialized nurse practitioner who provides comprehensive primary care services to adolescents, adults and older adult populations. The AGPCNP provider's scope of practice is to provide health care services and synthesizes theoretical, scientific, and clinical knowledge for the assessment and management of both health and illness states.  An AGPCNP may practice in a variety of settings, including internal medicine offices, health clinics, specialty practices, hospital rehabilitation or hospice units, long-term care facilities, and fast-track emergency rooms or adult urgent care centers.
