One Application = A World Of Opportunity
The School of Nursing awards several scholarships to students currently enrolled in upper division, students admitted for upper division for the upcoming semester, enrolled RN-BSN, Accelerated Second Degree, and degree-seeking graduate students. All scholarship funds are open to all eligible students regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, or age.
Complete a single scholarship application to apply for any applicable School of Nursing Scholarships.
Applying for UofL School of Nursing Scholarships
When completing the application, the following information will be needed:
- Cumulative GPA (and graduate GPA, if available)
- List of participation in community service and volunteer service.
- List of academic or community-related special honors, awards, recognition, or accomplishment.
- Explanation of Need for any unique financial circumstances.
- FAFSA Submissions Summary.
Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Online application is available at www.studentaid.gov. Scholarship application will be rejected if student does not have FAFSA Submission Summary information with scholarship application.
- Student will receive the FAFSA Submissions Summary.
- Call 1-800-433-3243 if FAFSA Submissions Summary with questions.
- Submit the University of Louisville School of Nursing Scholarship Fund Application with attached FAFSA Submissions Summary, and Loan Debt documentation on the School of Nursing scholarship web form.
Scholarships Available
Patricia Thrasher Arnold Memorial Scholarship Fund
To qualify, the scholarship applicant must be a resident of Kentucky and shall have limited financial resources, as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
Rachel & Erin Beam Memorial Scholarship
This is awarded for a graduate-level degree-seeking student with financial need.
Lawrence & Augusta Hager Educational Foundation Scholarship in Nursing
Scholarship funds will be dedicated to students enrolled in either the 2nd Degree Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or the Traditional BSN at the University of Louisville School of Nursing Owensboro Extension. Scholarship funds are to be awarded to deserving students in need based on merit.
Sharon D. & Robert D. Harris Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to a Jefferson County, Kentucky resident based on merit and need.
Humana Scholars Fund
General Scholarship to be awarded to students with need and with above-average academic ability.
Dr. Harold E. Kleinert Educational Endowment
This fund can make an annual award to a student pursuing a degree in nursing or allied health. The recipient must be an employee in good standing at Jewish Hospital or Kleinert Kutz Hand Care Center.
Patricia K. Lacefield Scholarship
This fund will provide scholarships in support of students who are seeking a nursing degree at the University of Louisville School of Nursing. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need.
Hettie A. and Richard B. Morgan Scholarship Fund
This scholarship is awarded to a School of Nursing student pursuing a degree who has participated to a significant extent in some type of community service on a volunteer basis. The recipient shall be selected on the basis of demonstrated financial need and merit.
Marc & Judy Norton Scholarship
This fund will provide scholarships for nursing students.
Maria A. Parel Scholarship
This fund shall be awarded to students pursuing a degree at the University of Louisville School of Nursing. Applicant must have achieved a 3.0 cumulative GPA at the time of application.
Elizabeth Pritchett Sasse Scholarship Fund
This fund will provide a scholarship for an outstanding student who has been admitted pursuing a degree in nursing. The recipient of the scholarship shall demonstrate financial need.
Carrie Rabalais Scholarship
The scholarship will be awarded to nursing students based on need and/or merit.
Trilogy Health Services Scholarship - Undergraduate
Fund will be used for scholarships in support of students seeking an undergraduate degree in nursing at the University of Louisville School of Nursing. The scholarship will be awarded based on need and/or merit.
UofL School of Nursing Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded to needy students with above-average academic ability.
Emily Van Bever Turner & Evalyn Van Bever Perkins Nursing Scholarship
This is awarded to a nursing student and is based on financial need and merit. Preference from an Appalachian county.
Shirley B. Powers Fund
This fund will support a scholarship award or awards for a student or students seeking a baccalaureate degree from the School of Nursing at the University of Louisville. Based on need and merit.
Dr. Rosalie O. Mainous Scholarship
This fund will support scholarships with first preference given to students, in need, who are graduate nursing students pursuing a doctoral degree.
Minna Benjamin Nursing Scholarship Memorial Fund
This Fund will be used for an annual award to support one or more students in the School of Nursing. Preference given to pre-licensure nursing programs.
Ron and Marie Abrams Educational Endowment
This Fund will be used to support an annual award to one or more students in the School of Nursing. Student applicants must demonstrate financial need.
Louis I. Waterman & Family Scholarship
Pre-licensure nursing students. Preference will be given to students who currently or intend to work at Legacy hospital facilities of Jewish Hospital including UofL Health - Jewish Hospital, UofL Health Frazier Rehab Institute, and UofL Health - Heart Hospital.
Nursing Program-Specific Scholarships
The following scholarships and awards are offered through the School of Nursing:
- ANEW Scholarship: The University of Louisville (UofL) School of Nursing (SON) Advanced Nursing Education Workforce (ANEW) program aims to prepare nurses to provide culturally competent care in medically underserved areas and communities.
- Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) Scholarship: The CEP allows community college students working towards their Associate Degree in Nursing to earn their RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing in less time by taking RN to BSN courses over the summer terms at the University of Louisville. The program is for students enrolled in the Kentucky Community Technical College and Ivy Technical Community College systems.
- LPN-to-BSN Pathway Program Scholarship & Stipend: The LPN-to-BSN Pathway Program offers scholarships and stipends to support Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Ruth Craddock Fund: The Ruth Craddock Fund supports the research mission of the School of Nursing by providing financial assistance to currently enrolled nursing students who wish to fund their dissertation or present their findings at a conference.
