Owensboro BSN students eligible for cash award from Owensboro Health

The Owensboro Health Foundation has established a $5,000 award for graduating B.S.N. students from the University of Louisville School of Nursing Owensboro Extension Program.

Starting in fall 2016, the Vicki M. Stogsdill Award will be given to one graduating student every semester who has shown dedication to learning and excellence in practice and leadership. The award recipient must work for Owensboro Health for at least a year post graduation.

After more than three decades in various roles at Owensboro Health, Stogsdill retired as vice president and chief nursing officer of Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in spring 2016. A mentor to nurses throughout the region, Stogsdill helped create the partnership between Owensboro Health and UofL, which established the first and only traditional bachelor of science in nursing degree program in the Owensboro region.

“The Vicki M. Stogsdill Award is a wonderful opportunity for our students,” said Amy Higdon, M.S.N., R.N., Director of the UofL School of Nursing Owensboro Extension Program. “Vicki is an instrumental nursing leader and we are honored that our students will be rewarded for their hard work and dedication to the nursing profession.”
