Welcome to the School of Nursing

It is with great pride that I welcome back our students, staff and faculty to the University of Louisville School of Nursing. Fall 2025 is going to be an exciting time for Cardinal Nursing and I am thrilled to be a part of it.
Opportunities abound for our students across all our programming. The success of the undergraduate program is consistently demonstrated by these key performance indicators:
• BSN-Louisville graduation rates are among the highest in the state.
• Pass rates for all pre-licensure programs are at or above the national average.
• Graduate the highest number of BSN-prepared nurses in the state annually.
The School of Nursing remains nimble and responsive to our workforce needs by addressing the overwhelming request for “speed to degree.” Students can choose from points of entry, including the Accelerated BSN (ABSN), RN-BSN concurrent enrollment program, and the new ABSN to MSN pathway.
Our ABSN continues to exceed enrollment expectations. This program is an important workforce pipeline locally and throughout the state.
Our graduate programming continues to expand. Students seeking to become a nurse practitioner can complete an MSN, DNP, or post graduate certificate in preparation to sit for national certification in a multitude of acute and primary care specialty areas. Our flexible admission process and unique hybrid programming is designed to meet the demands of busy health professionals. US News & World Report ranked our MSN and DNP programs in the top 100.
The Nurse Anesthesia Program has added an exciting new layer of clinical education that has further solidified our critical partnership with UofL Health. May 2025 saw the enrollment of our third cohort. Students and faculty mentors in our PhD Program continue to generate new knowledge that is transforming health care delivery for our patients, particularly the most vulnerable and under-resourced.
I am so thankful to be back at the UofL School of Nursing and can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you. Have a wonderful start to the semester and go Cards!
